Which Non-Power 4 Teams Gained The Most in Week 14?
This week's top team from outside the Power Four ranks on social media is the darlings from Albuquerque, with the
New Mexico Lobos gaining 2.318% more followers online after beating San Diego State in double OT, 23-17.
New Mexico's latest win capped off a 9-3 campaign in the Duke City, representing the team's most in a year since going 9-3 under Bob Davie in 2016 (and tying five other teams for the second-most in program history).
Nationally, UNM beat out other non-Power Four darlings like Kennesaw State (+1.078%), Jacksonville State (+0.981%), UMass (+0.927%) and North Texas (+0.760%).
Of that latter quartet, the Owls managed to knock off Liberty (48-42) to cap off a 9-3 season, while the Gamecocks beat Western Kentucky, 37-34, to move to 8-4 for the year and the Mean Green shellacked Temple, 52-25, to improve to 11-1 in 2025.
The Minutemen, on the other hand, were the lone team of the bunch to come up short during the team's final regular season contest, with Joe Harasymiak's team finishing an illustrious 0-12 campaign in Amherst by losing to Bowling Green, 45-14.
Who Else Made the List This Week?
While FBS success stories like New Mexico, Kennesaw State and North Texas were among the nation's leaders online this week, others like New Mexico State (+0.716%), Ball State (+0.636%), Navy (+0.583%), Tulsa (+0.554%) and Charlotte (+0.532%) were among the top 10 teams nationally, social media wise.
Of that latter group of non-Power Four teams, the Midshipmen were the only one to win in Week 14, with the service academy knocking off Memphis on the road, 28-17, on Thanksgiving night.
The Aggies (31-24 to Middle Tennessee State in overtime), Cardinals (45-24 to Miami of Ohio), Golden Hurricane (31-24 to UAB) and 49ers (27-0 to Tulane) all came up short during Thanksgiving weekend, putting the final stamp on the final week of college football's regular season outside the ranks of the Power Four conferences.
