Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
When your quality of contact is in the single-digit percentiles, is it worth noting if last season was better or worse than the prior campaign? Dubon's game is putting the ball in play and hoping he finds a hole. It's not the most reliable approach, especially with 48th percentile sprint speed, but for the second straight season, Dubon's BABIP was above the league average, though his lack of power generated a low 87 wRC+. He plays everywhere but behind the plate, with an above-average outfield glove while being an average infield defender. Ideally, Dubon should be a Swiss army knife, playing a few times a week, but he's been a regular for the past two seasons. He'll probably start the season as a reserve, but is the next man up at several spots. Three position eligibility (1B, 2B, OF) renders Dubon a mixed-league reserve target, especially in draft-and-hold formats. Read Past Outlooks
Avoids arbitration
Atlanta and Dubon avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract Friday.
ANALYSIS
Jon Heyman of the New York Post says the deal is worth $6.1 million. Dubon was acquired via trade from the Astros earlier this week and is tentatively slated to open 2026 as Atlanta's starting shortstop. However, further roster additions could push the 31-year-old to a utility role.

Dubon opened 2023 as Houston's primary second baseman with Jose Altuve on the injured list and took advantage of the opportunity by hitting .309 in 37 games before Altuve was activated in mid-May. Dubon scored 27 runs during that stretch but had little other substance with no homers, eight RBI and three steals. He filled a super-utility role the rest of the way, though he split most of his playing time between center field and the keystone. He finished the campaign with a .720 OPS (97 wRC+) and is positioned to fill the utility role again in 2024 with the Astros returning most of their lineup. Dubon likely won't have much fantasy utility while Houston is healthy, but he could carve out a larger role if/when injuries surface.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
In line for utility role?
Atlanta could use Dubon as a utility player after acquiring him from the Astros via trade Wednesday, the team's president of baseball operations, Alex Anthopoulos, told Mark Bowman of MLB.com on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Atlanta could use Dubon as their starting shortstop in 2026, but the team could also move the 31-year-old to a utility role if they find an upgrade at the position. Dubon won his second Gold Glove award in 2025 as a utility player, and his multi-positional flexibility is something that could be useful for Atlanta. "Our underlying data on him at shortstop is good and strong," Anthopoulos said. "But I think he's good at second, good at third, and good at the corners. He can play center field. We like the contact and the speed, as well." Dubon hit .241 with a .644 OPS across 398 regular-season plate appearances in 2025.
